Spiced Applesauce Bread

This is the first time I've attempted on of Mrs. Pidgeon's recipes first thing in the morning.  The smells that filled my home were absolutely amazing! If you have kids who loved applesauce one day and hated it the next (leaving you with copious amounts of applesauce that no one will touch) this recipe is for you. Magically transform that overstock of applesauce into something everyone enjoys 😂

Spiced Applesauce Bread

1 1/4 cups applesauce
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup Crisco oil
2 eggs
3 Tbsp. milk
2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. allspice
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1/4 cup chopped pecans
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

In mixer bowl, combine applesauce, sugar, oil, eggs, and milk.

Sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder, first 1/2 tsp of cinnamon, salt, and spices. Stir into applesauce mixture and beat well. Fold in 1/2 cup pecans. Turn into well greased 9x5x3 loaf pan. Combine the 1/4 cup pecans, brown sugar, and 1/2 tsp. cinnamon. Sprinkle over batter.

Bake at 350°F for one hour. Remove from pan and cool on rack.
