Old Fashioned Ice Cream
Every year for his birthday and Father's Day, my husband asks for homemade ice cream. His aunt and uncle kindly gifted us a kitchen aid mixer bowl for our wedding and we use it frequently with different ice cream recipes. When his birthday rolled around this year, we naturally felt it was a perfect opportunity to let Mrs. Pidgeon guide us with our ice cream making! This recipe makes a very traditional, very rich ice cream and I hope you enjoy it!
Old Fashioned Ice Cream
5 eggs
2 tall cans Pet milk
2 cups sugar
3 cups whole milk
1 Tbsp vanilla
Beat eggs in a large bowl. Add Pet milk, sugar, whole milk, and vanilla. Still until sugar is dissolved. Pour into 1 gallon ice cream maker and follow operating instructions.

This sounds like a wonderful recipe! What can I use instead of egg? I'm highly allergic so I can't do just whites or just yolks. I've tried egg beaters and egg substitutes. They're all made with real egg. Would chia gel be an acceptable replacement?
ReplyDeleteOr would I just need to enjoy this with my epi-pen close by? lol ;)
I would not recommend eating anything you are allergic to. The eggs are really just a thickener and you could use all kinds of things in their place, or omit them completely. Some use cream cheese which gives it a frozen yogurt flavor, or you can make a cornstarch slurry, or try coconut cream!
