Hershey's Chocolate Cake

 

This was easier to make than I expected (I'm normally a boxed cake mix kind of girl and haven't made a ton of homemade cake.)  The cakes smelled divine after just a few minutes in the oven!
I layered buttercream frosting between the cakes and frosted them with the same; my family absolutely destroyed them!  I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as we did!

Hersey’s Chocolate Cake

¼ cup butter
¼ cup Crisco
2 cups sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 eggs
¾ tsp baking soda
¾ cup Hershey’s cocoa
1 ¾ cups flour
¾ tsp. baking powder
1/8 tsp. salt
1 ¾ cups milk

Generously grease and flour two 9” round cake pans.

Cream cutter, shortening, sugar, and vanilla until light; blend in eggs.

Combine baking soda, cocoa, flour, baking powder, and salt in bowl. Add alternately with milk to batter. Blend well.

Pour into prepared cake pans. Bake at 350 F for 30-35 minutes.  Cool 10 minutes, remove from pans.
